Hong Kong (HKSAR) – A person in custody in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre died in a public hospital today (February 9).
At about 5.01pm yesterday, the 52-year-old newly admitted male person in custody suddenly collapsed with convulsion while undergoing the admission procedure in the reception office.
Officers at scene immediately sent him to the centre hospital for first aid treatment, and subsequently sent him to a public hospital for medical treatment. He was found semi-unconscious at the time with symptom of intra-cranial haemorrhage and was certified dead at 00.04am today.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner’s Court.
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for two months for an offence of theft.
