Poem: Seeing yourself outside of yourself

Sometimes we actually do have a choice

Not to cry

And when that moment sits on the brink of your tearful blink

Stop. Take in a breath

And allow yourself to

Break

A break away from

The tears

And thoughts

That bleed

Those tears

And sit up tall

Take a look around your existence

The books on your shelf

The bedspread you selected

The pictures on  your walls

The towels in your bathroom

Take a good surveillance

Of yourself

Reflected in the self that

Sits here now

Tears never get dissolved

Cause they never fall from the rim of your lid

Cause you’re a new you

A you that encompasses

The old self

Sprinkled throughout

Your living breathing space

Sometimes it takes a good look around

To see yourself

Outside of yourself.
