The internet has come together to discuss the ultimate online dating profile turn-offs.

From using too many emojis to saying you hate ‘fake people’, there’s a huge list of things that romantic hopefuls should never, ever do when crafting their bios.

This was the topic of discussion in an eye-opening Reddit thread called ‘Singles who use dating sites: What information about a person makes you leave/ignore their profile immediately?’.

Reddit user Remmbro said an ‘excessive use of emojis’ was a real turn-off.

For Llama it was ‘men holding fish’. She wrote: ‘Because I don’t get it and feel like I’m on the outside of the world’s biggest inside joke’.

Many Redditors agreed that saying you ‘hate fake people’ immediately sends out warning signals.

‘”I hate fake people” is usually said by the fakest person ever’, wrote LRedditor15.

And Avecousansvous created a list of things people should never write, which included: ‘I hate fake people’, ‘Just ask’, ‘420’, ‘I’m a country girl, I like fishing and mudding’, ‘I don’t like drama and ‘HMU’, the latter standing for hit me up.

For another Reddit user, a mention of a child was the ultimate no-no.

They wrote: ‘At my age (22) I leave your profile immediate if you have a kid, regardless of how attractive you are otherwise.’

Another user agreed, adding: ‘Same here. It’s not that I don’t like kids. It’s not that I’m opposed to having kids.

‘I’m not even insistent on raising kids that are biological mine – I would be okay with adopting. I just don’t want children for years yet.’

DDfnord wrote: ‘Any show of anger or flippant disregard. You have 400 characters to summarize yourself and attract people, maybe don’t have a tantrum’

And Ajw7373 added: ‘Anyone who says something along the line of, “I’m sick of drama, so please don’t contact me if you’re into that kind of shit.”

‘A person that frequently attracts drama is the type that’s also likely to cause it.’

Other huge turn-offs for Reddit users were ‘baby pictures of themselves – why the f*** would I care what you looked like as a baby? I don’t even know you’ and ‘when a majority of their pictures are of them with alcohol or of alcohol’.

TEN WAY TO BOOST YOUR LOVE LIFE ONLINE

Jo Barnett, the UK’s leading dating and breakthrough coach shares her top ten tips…

1. Colour impacts your mood and how people perceive you so it’s really important. For dating apps, wearing a vibrant colour like red can help you stand out from the crowd

2. Wear clothes that flatter your figure. If the thought of a shopping centre gives you heart palpitations, don’t shy away from getting a personal shopper to help

3. Make sure you capture your natural smile and energy. Outdoors shots can help with this

4. It’s good to get a variety of photos, with a mix of dressed up and fun, casual action shots

5. Don’t pose with “hot” friends of the opposite sex or cute animals – it’s a bit overdone

6. Never pose with a bottle in your hand or looking slightly worse for wear on a night out!

7. Don’t wear sunglasses – it makes it harder for potential matches to see what you look like and can put people off

8. Allow your profile to be light and breezy – don’t take yourself too seriously in your profile

9. Be confident but not arrogant, someone needs to feel that they can make you happy, so don’t make it sound impossible!

10. Ask what your friends love about you and try to put that across in your profile
