Sand painting video showcases Hong Kong’s diversity

Hong Kong (HKSAR) – Racing into the Year of the Horse, the Information Services Department (ISD) has today (February 2) launched a new promotional video to showcase Hong Kong’s characteristics as a fast-paced, lively and creative city.

The 15-minute video combines the artistry of sand painting with iconic views of Hong Kong to give local and international audiences a fresh perspective on daily life in Asia’s world city.

Entitled “Hong Kong Sandscapes”, the video takes viewers on a journey through the city from the first rays of dawn to the bright lights of the evening.

The video also introduces some of Hong Kong’s traditional festive celebrations, heritage, culture, green living and gastronomic delights.

This project is a collaboration with renowned local sand painting artist Hoi Chiu, who created more than 20 pieces of artwork for the video.

Throughout the video, Hoi Chiu demonstrates skills and techniques such as dusting, smearing, rubbing and drawing to produce a range of remarkable images that depict different aspects of Hong Kong and which are brought to life with blended video images.

The video will be used by Hong Kong’s offices in Mainland China and overseas to help promote the city as a great place to live, work, visit and have fun.
