Heyward, who donned the tribute during the Steelers’ Week 5 game against the San Diego Chargers, didn’t reveal how much he was fined, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL docked him for $5,787, which is the standard fine for a first violation of the NFL’s uniform policy against “personal messages.”

Earlier in the week, the NFL was widely criticized for not allowing running back DeAngelo Williams to wear pink football accessories with his uniform beyond October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Williams was hoping to honor his late mother who died of breast cancer.

The NFL continues to flex on players who are just looking to honor their late parents. Have they no heart?
