Syrian government delegation arrives for Geneva peace talks

GENEVA (Reuters) – A Syrian government delegation led by its U.N. Ambassador Bashar al Jaafari arrived at the United Nations in Geneva on Friday for the first meeting of peace talks, but it remained unclear if any opposition delegation would travel there to negotiate with them.

Jaafari, flanked by the Syrian ambassador in Geneva and Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmad Arnous, declined to make any comment as they arrived to meet U.N. Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura.
