Temporary suspension of electricity supply and closure of Tsuen Wan Government Offices (except for Tsuen Wan Public Library)


Hong Kong (HKSAR) – Attention TV/radio announcers:

Please broadcast the following special announcement as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

The Government Property Agency announced today (September 5) that as a result of burst water mains, the electricity supply at Tsuen Wan Government Offices, No.38 Sai Lau Kok Road, Tsuen Wan, has to be suspended on safety grounds for urgent repair work to be carried out. Apart from the Tsuen Wan Public Library which has a separate electricity supply and thus can maintain normal operation, services in the Government Offices will be suspended. Public services affected mainly include Labour Department offices, Tsuen Wan Music Centre of Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Tsuen Wan Dental Clinic and Health Education Centre, Social Welfare Department offices, Lands Department offices, and Tsuen Wan Delivery Office of the Hong Kong Post.

Other departments in the Government Offices include the Education Bureau, Planning Department, Environmental Protection Department, Auxillary Medical Services, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, Census and Statistics Department, Civil Engineering and Development Department, Hong Kong Police Force and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer.

Urgent repair works are being carried out with a view to resuming normal services as soon as possible.
