Today I Love The Freedom To Write

A sunny day

Today I love the freedom to write. I love the opportunities I have to make my life better. I love that I have learned to take a deep breath and respond where once I would have reacted. I love that each of us has challenges and many of us realize that our challenges are our own, that others can support us or not but in the end we win or lose by what we do, that my life is what it is regardless of what others have or don’t have, accomplish or don’t accomplish. I love that life is a gift and like most gifts I can make the most of it or not, but it’s the only life I get (at least for this go ’round). I love that I continue to work on my life and that writing “Today I Love …” is part of that work.

Today I love that the open mic at Heartwood last night was full of appreciative people and that everyone who played got to feel the love. I love that this town is so supportive of musicians, I love that the musicians support other musicians, and I love that the musicians support this town. I love that more music is trying to make its way out of my head, though it picks some rather inopportune times to do so. I love that I am often trying to remember lines and verses and choruses while driving or doing other things that make writing impossible. I love that music is part of my life and I love that song writing is also part of my life.

Today I love this sunny bright day and that since I have no “on site” work to do I’ll get some laundry done and some more of my house cleared up. I love that everything is going according to plan, even though it’s moving a bit slowly. I love that the memories I have of this house seem to be becoming more alive as it changes from the way it’s been for 30 years to something that will suggest what it could be for its next owners. I love how whenever the home stager suggests some change she always thinks I’m going to balk and I always just say “Okay.” I love how happy that seems to make her, but she is a professional, why would I argue … except maybe about the canoe. We’ll see … ha ha.

Today I love coffee at my desk while I write. And I love that I get to write.
