Fireworks AI and MongoDB’s collab- SiliconANGLE – Business

Spread the love

Generative artificial intelligence as a platform ultimately succeeds when it’s a marriage between collaboration and innovation.

Fireworks AI and MongoDB Inc.’s relationship has pushed the limits on what gen AI can achieve. Fireworks is an inference provider helping developers serve open-source and proprietary models, enabling the acceleration of product innovation with gen AI.

“We really valued the partnership with Fireworks. We feel that together they create a complete offering for our developers,” said Gregory Maxson (pictured, left), senior director and global lead of AI GTM and strategic partners at MongoDB. “The services that Fireworks provides around inference, around fine-tuning combined with your proprietary data being easily accessible with is why we think this is such a great perfect fit partnership for our customers.”

Maxson and Benny Cheng (right), co-founder of Fireworks AI, spoke with theCUBE Research’s chief analyst Dave Vellante at the MongoDB.local NYC event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Fireworks enables product innovation, the company’s newly announced strategic partnership with MongoDB and the MongoDB AI Application Program, or MAAP announcement. Fireworks illuminating the power of AI

Fireworks AI’s Benny Cheng and MongoDB’s Gregory Maxson, discuss redefining generative AI.

One of this week’s big announcements is MongoDB’s AI app program, MAAP. This is a perfect extension of what is already occurring at Fireworks, according to Maxson.

“What we were hearing from our customers was, ‘This market’s moving so fast; it’s changing so quickly that it’s hard for me to keep pace. I find it overwhelming to know how to get started. And I oftentimes don’t have the in-house expertise to integrate and implement all of these things. So, I need a trusted advisor to help show me what’s the full stack I need,’” he said. “What does great look like? What’s worked? And that’s what MAAP is intended to provide is that comprehensive set of offerings.”

In the MAAP program, there are curated sets of large language models, prompting the question of what Fireworks thinks of Mongo’s LLM choices.

“I think Mongo should definitely pick and choose whatever that’s best for the customers. We’re here to get the developers to the stage where they can productionize the applications,” Chen said. “As long as it’s on that path and how Fireworks is helping people on that path, Fireworks should just be part of the choice. Mongo should pick and choose.”
