Amber Tamblyn Finally Revealed Her Newborn Daughter’s Name — With Some Help from Hillary Clinton

From Redbook

Amber Tamblyn has finally revealed the name of her daughter with her husband actor/comedian David Cross, nearly a month after her birth. The baby girl’s name is – drumroll – Marlow Alice Cross, which, in the context of other celebrity baby names, isn’t particularly unusual or unique. But it’s the way that she announced her baby’s name that really stands out.

In a fitting move for the very feminist and politically active actress, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants alum announced her daughter’s name by posting a short letter sent to her daughter – by none other than Hillary Clinton.

Yeah, that’s definitely going in the baby album. Hell, put that on the wall.

The letter was a birthday wish from the former Democratic presidential candidate to Tamblyn and Cross’ newborn, dated February 15th. The brief note, which Tamblyn confessed in her caption made her cry, wished Marlow “a lifetime of amazing accomplishments and adventures, full of love, learning, and friendship.” In her caption, the 33-year-old actress thanked Hillary (“grandmother to us all”) for the birthday wish “from one spectacular woman who has lived so much to another who has only just begun.” Tamblyn clearly wasn’t expecting to receive the letter, and she joked that her heart was as full as the diaper she was about to change (which I suppose is about as full as a heart can get).

It’s no surprise that Clinton would send a personalized note to Tamblyn to commemorate the birth of her daughter. The actress was a fervent supporter of the presidential nominee throughout the 2016 election and beyond. She even made the announcement that she was expecting her daughter in the context of a powerful pro-Clinton essay for Glamour in October. It makes sense that Clinton would surprise Tamblyn with a note like this for the baby.

Marlow is the first child for Tamblyn and Cross, who married in 2012. The former Joan of Arcadia actress announced her daughter’s birth with a short video of the baby’s kicking feet posted February 21st, joking that she’d named her firstborn Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Funkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey Jr.

While, personally, I’m a little sad to see Baby Dauphie decided against, Marlow Alice is a very nice name.
