Pink Just Got Real About Her Post-Baby Weight In This Inspiring Instagram Post

Would you believe I’m 160 pounds and 5’3″? By ‘regular standards’ that makes me obese. I know I’m not at my goal or anywhere near it after Baby 2 but dammit I don’t feel obese. The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies! #feelingmyself #strongismygoal #bodygoals @msjeanettejenkins #happysaturday #getitin #GIJaneismyWCW

She ended her post with a message applicable for everyone, new moms or no: “The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies!” she added.

Pink, who gave birth to her second baby Jameson Moon Hart in December, brings up an important issue. BMI, or body mass index, was developed in the 1800s and has long been criticized by experts as a flawed measure of weight. For example, the amount of muscle a person has and the distribution of fat on a person’s body are two factors that can make that number misleading.

At the end of the day, your health and fitness are more complicated than one number and like Pink says, your height and weight shouldn’t be the measure of how we feel about our bodies or our gym game.

In a world filled with seemingly inhuman specimens who strut down fashion runways or red carpets weeks after giving birth, Pink is one of a few celebs to get real about the realities of a post-baby body. Chrissy Teigen, for example, is no stranger to sharing her “stretchies” on social media, and told Today in 2016 that celebrity post-baby bodies are not “normal” because “we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything.”

The bottom line: Get out there and do what makes you feel your healthiest and fittest, no matter what number you see on a scale.
