Appointment of chairman and members to Legal Aid Services Council


Hong Kong (HKSAR) – The Government announced today (August 29) the appointment of the chairman and members of the Legal Aid Services Council.

The Chief Executive has re-appointed Dr Eric Li Ka-cheung as chairman of the council, and Ms Juliana Chow Hoi-ling, Ms Anna Kwong Sum-yee, Mr Joseph Li Chiu-wah and Ms Josephine Antonetta Pinto as members of the council.

The Chief Executive has also appointed Mr Albert Ip Yuk-keung, Mr Clarence Leung Wang-ching, Ms Melissa Kaye Pang and Ms Wong Wai-ching as members of the council.

The terms of appointment of all members are from September 1, 2014, to August 31, 2016.

The Legal Aid Services Council is responsible for overseeing the administration of the legal aid services provided by the Legal Aid Department and advising the Government on legal aid policy. The council comprises a chairman and four members who are not connected with the practice of law, and two barrister members and two solicitor members recommended by the Hong Kong Bar Association and the Law Society of Hong Kong respectively.

The Director of Legal Aid is an ex-officio member of the council.
