First lesson: anatomy. Sixty-one percent of respondents think the vagina has three main parts. The reality: It only has one. Obviously, there’s other stuff going on down there—like the vulva, labia, and clitoris—but those are considered totally separate entities. Confused? Here’s a handy diagram that should help you map things out.

Orgasms were also a topic of mystery. Forty-seven percent of participants had no clue that these short-lived, blissful sensations can ease PMS cramps (thanks to that rush of oxytocin and endorphins). What’s more, 30 percent think orgasms can improve fertility (they don’t, sadly). (Study up on some other fun climax facts.)

And then there was this: Seventy-two percent of women didn’t realize that you should see your gyno to treat an ingrown hair. (PSA: You should, because those babies can lead to some serious infections.) Plus, 75 percent were in the dark about pink balls (the female version of blue balls). Just like a guy’s junk gets a surge of blood when he’s aroused, so does the uterus. If you don’t get off, that blood pools down there, leading to a congested or “full” sensation in your lady parts that disappears soon after.
