You Have to See This Anti-Sexting Ad

Sending a racy pic to your partner can no doubt spice things up in your relationship, but it’s so easy for things to go viral nowadays. You’ve probably heard some of the horrifying stories about leaked photos, and now a new anti-sexting campaign illustrates just how fast a naked pic can travel to unintended recipients.

The ad shows a woman snapping a nude photo in the bathroom mirror, but instead of her reflection in the mirror, we see a guy receiving the picture. Behind that man is a never-ending chain of strangers who can also see the woman’s selfie, which aims to show that you never really know how many people will see something once you hit send. Check it out below:

The Brazilian advertising company Propeg designed this image for SaferNet Brazil—a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting Internet crimes—and its tagline hits the nail on the head: “The internet can’t keep a secret. Keep your privacy offline.”

Powerful, right? Still, it might not be enough to dissuade people from sharing X-rated material. A recent study found that a whopping 54 percent of people haven’t just sexted—they’ve also sent nude videos, photos, and emails. If you are going to send racy material to a trusted recipient, make sure to follow the safe rules of sexting—like making sure your face and any other identifying characteristics are completely out of view. (Plus, watch out for this one time you shouldn’t sext.)
